LOCANDA BOY’S CUP
(By Telegraph—Special to "The Mail”)
CHRISTCHURCH, This Day
All the acceptors paraded for the Greymouth Trotting Club Cup for which the'public went solidly for Dihvortli, who although executing an attractive performance, found his match in Luca nil a, Boy. The latter went to the front after two furlongs were covered, and completed tho first round well clear of Arikitoa, Bessie Dillon, Delightful and Binscavtii.
There was not much change in the next circuit, but entering the last round Dilworth made a forward move and rail into* second place before the far turn was reached, followed by Bessie Dillon and Delightful. Locanda Boy was going so easily at this stage that lie looked a certain winner, and he entered the straight two lengths in front of Dilworth with a similar break to Bessie Dillon and Delightful. Dilworth made a determined effort hi Hie run home, but could make no impression on Locanda Boy who won slowing up by three lengths. Bessie Dillon went a fine race throughout, and was a like distance away in front of Star Lady and Delightful. The race was run in a heavy shower on ;t sloppy track. Locanda Boy set the rest of the field a hard task and was favoured -by the changed traclQ conditions. Dilworth did not lose any prestige for her game race under the" circumstances, and is undoubtedly a high class three-year-old. The third favourite, Atlialone, made no showing whatever, and was always near the rear. High Jinks gave a pleasing display, and was not far away at the finish. Locando Boy won the same race for his Westport owner three years ago. . .... .
