LONDON, ; sth January. An influenza epidemic is raging in Germany, hospitals Tn Berlin being unable to cope with it. There are many cases in Britain, but no epidemic. . The Health Ministry has warned the public and local authorities to take precautions.

, The United States census bureau re- ■ ported that the influenza epidemic is 'i now in its ninth week, and has taken over 12,000 lives in 65 principal cities. Weekly reports have shown a steady rise in influenza and pneumonia deaths since 31st November, the latest of which, for the week ending 29th December, showed 2,957 deaths from both diseases. Additional deaths are expected before the epidemic passes.
