MAPHA CLUB The annual* meeting of the Mapua Bowling Club was held recently. Mr B. (!. Goodwin presided over a large attendance. It was resolved to proceed with the erection of a pavilion. The matter of a water supply was left in the hands of the committee. The election of officers resulted : Mr B. G. Goodwill, president; Mr A. McKee, vice-president; .Mr J. Napier secretary; and a committee composed of Messrs A. Neave, T. Janies, C". A. Higgs and I). Blanche. At a meeting of the committee held later it was decided to invite the Brightwater concert party to hold a concert on behalf of the club’s funds. The date of the opening of the green was left over. Quite a number of members gathered on Election day and spent an enjoyable afternoon on the green, the ladies providing afternoon tea. The club promises to provide a longfelt need in this district and affords an opportunity for settlers and their lady friends to spend pleasant afternoons together. MAITAI CLUB

The following is the draw for the third round (two lives); \V. Gay v. 11. Forster, P. Gibbs v. Chapman, McCornish v. Persico, T. I)ee v. Cappiello. Those with one life are; Johnson v. G. Hurlev, Avdon v. W. Dee, Adams v. Lawrie, Whiting v. Dunphy v. Griener, L. Forster v La Frentz, Stevens v. Logan, Russell v. McArtney. The round closes on 7th December.
