LANDING PLACES FOR ’PLANES
SEARCH' FOR WEST COAST SITES (By Telegraph—Special to “The Mail") CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Recently Captain Buckley, of Christchurch, visited the West Coast in search of suitable sites for tlie establishment of aeroplane and seaplane landing places. Of all those he inspected he was most impressed wth a plateau on the shores of Lake Brunner, a bar in the lake promising to be a suitable base for seaplanes. In his report to the Greymouth Borough Council,' just to hand, he stated that “Lake Brunner appears to offer facilities for a seaplane base, but it was not considered likely that the expenditure involved to establish a .base at such a distance from Greymouth would be warranted, at least for some time.” From a study of maps and reports, but without personal knowledge of actual grounds, it 'appeared that a site near the Grey Hospital could probably be developed and converted into a reasonably good aerodrome for land ’planes.
