SCANDAL IN JAPAN
PACIFIC FLIGHT SCHEME
SUBSCRIBED FUND SQUANDERED
LONDON, 14th November
A message i'rorri Kobe, Japan, says the Imperial Aviation Society's formal abandonment of a proposed Pacific fliglri was signified by the resignation of 21 of the leading members. However, all have been re-elected, and the announcement is now made of another public subscription for a flight in 1930. A fund totalling £IO,OOO has been squandered, not even the builders of the aeroplane having been paid. A first-class scandal is likely to develop, because the fund was raised from among all classes, even school children, on the plea of patriotism.
