OFFICIAL COUNTS REFORM LOSES WELLINGTON NORTH UNITEDS CAPTURE DUNEDIN SOUTH (By Telegraph—Press Association) WELLINGTON, This Day. As a result of the turn the official count caused the political situation to take yesterday the Government is now only one seat ahead of the United Party, with the Labour group third. While retaining other doubtful seats such as Mid-Canterbury and Franklin, the Reformers lost Wellington North to Labour, and the Uniteds, in addition to holding Mataura and Kaiapoi, captured Dunedin South from the Labourites. The official count has been completed in nearly fifty electorates. The total votes cast in the electorate was 8964, of which 67 were informal. WAITOMO TE KUITI, This Day. Broadfoot (U.) 3797 Rolleston (R.) 3265 Croall (L.) ;.. 688 BAY OF ISLANDS WHANGAREI, This Day. The official recount for the Bay of Islands seat has not begun. The returning officer is awaiting the receipt of two absent votes. Rushworth (Country Party) is still leading by 82. The votes vet to be counted number 324.
SOUTHERN MAORI

CHRISTCHURCH. This Day.
The official count of the Southern Maori election commenced this morning. On the provisional figures, which have not undergone any change since the night of the election, Makitanara (United) has a lead of one vote over Tirikatene (Ratana Party).
