THE GOOD TEMPLARS

NELSON AND TAHUNA The weekly session of the Loyal Nelson lodge was held on Saturday evening in the Reehabiles Hall, presided over by Pro. T. Somerville, Chief Templar. The secretary read the monthly epitome, compiled by the 0.5.L.W., dealing with the coming licensing poll, and the election of members of Parliament. A good discussion followed on these two matters, in which attention was drawn to the overwhelmingly dry victory in America by the election of a “dry” President. During the evening the officers present who were elected at the previous session were duly installed by the Lodge Deputy, Sis. Mrs Moves. Prior to the lodge session the weekly meeting of the Hope of Nelson Temple was held, presided over by Sis. Joan Mitchell. Thu following new members were initiated : Doris Davies, Audrey and Gladys Owen. Afterwards a very entertaining programme was provided by the members and friends. A song was given by Sis. Joy Evans, a reading by Sis. Airs In wood of the Loyal Nelson Lodge; a song by the Siipt., Bro. R. Watson ; and recitations .by Sisters R. Evans, Gladys Owen, M. Gardiner, Ivenmare. M. Evans, Joan Mitchell, and Joy Evans.

The Supt. of the Hope of Taliuna Temple reported that a very well attended session of the temple was held in the boys’ club room on Thursday evening, presided over by Sis. Freda Ilaisman. Six new members were proposed, including William Herbert and Ernest Regge, proposed by Bro. G. Briggs. Laddie Mead was proposed by Bro. R. Day, Thomas Sherif'fe by Bro. Allan Smallbone, and Arthur Norgato by Bro. B. Reeves for initiation at next session.

The recitation contest held over from tho previous session was held, Sis. Ella Goring being the winner of the sisters’ section, and Bro. Bob Day that of the brothers’. The Supt. Bro. Thos. Somerville announced that all essays on “Iv” jam were to he handed in at next session. The superintendent expressed his appreciation of the exceptional good behaviour of the members present at the session.
