NOVEL BURGLAR ALARM
USE OF INVISIBLE RAYS
DEVICE FOR. LONDON STORES LONDON, Ist November. An apparatus operated bv invisible rays for the control of burglar alarms will shortly lie introduced at, Hamid's Stores, says the “Daily Mail,” to safeguard tlie stock, .which is estimated to be worth C 1,500,000.
The apparatus is so constructed that if an intruder puts any part of bis body in the path of the beam electric circuits arc broken. This causes alarm bells to ring. The bells will also ring if a burglar tries to disconnect the wiring. Many London, stores are at their wits’ end to cope with an epidemic of night thefts. One firm lias installed a secret alarm system which warns the police in the event of a bandit overpowering the watchman and compelling him to ring the O.K. signal.
