It is almost a full Hay since tlie 339 passengers and crew abandoned the ship. Only 203 are definitely accounted for, with most of the lifeboats picked up. Rescue began before dawn, the ships being attracted-by flares. The liner Berlin, the tanker Myriam, and the battleship Wyoming shared the lescues. Other snips are searching. The dirigible Los Angeles has been ordered to leave Lakehurst, New Jersey, at 6 p.m. (o join in the seal’d). AN EXPLANATION (Received 14th November, 11.5 a.m.) NEW YORK, 13th November. The Berlin later wirelessed that the first of her messages was erroneous, and the second should be substituted for it. NUMBER OF DEAD SIGHTED (Received 14th November, 11.5 a.m.) WASHINGTON, 13th November. Vice-Admiral Taylor of the battleship Wyoming, -wirelessed on Tuesday afternoon that a number of the Vestris’ dead had been sighted, and he would discontinue to search in the evening, as it was not thought possible that any more could be rescued.
