The two were evidently business men. What is more, one could see, almost at a glance, that they were partners. They walked into the station of the Underground Railway and took their places in the queue. Suddenly one of the pair seemed to remember something. Ho clapped one hand to his forehead and gasped. "What's the matter?" asked the second man. "Matter," ejaculated the other—"matter? Abe_. T forgot to lock the safe when I "left tho office." "Humph !" replied the other. "Why worry about the safe not being locked? [We're both here, aren't we?"
The inspector was paying his annual visit to the village school, and was putting the children through (heir paces. Thp.y did quite well until he. asked the in the meaning of the word "epidemic?"
