DELHI, 24th October. Floods are increasing on the Madras coast, and are the worst for 20 years. Tho countryside is inundated for hundreds of miles, villages and homesteads being completely obliterated. It is feared there has been heavy loss of life and cattle.

Long stretches of railway line, bridges, and stations have been demolished. The bodies of two missing Europeans and an Indian driver were recovered from an engine which was precipitated into a washout

The rainfall was 16 inches during tho week-end.
