SUICIDE OF ARCHITECT

RESCUE OPERATIONS BY SEARCHLIGHT PRAGUE, 10th October. Rescuers were working on the collapsed building all night with the aid of searchlights. It is feared that the death roll will be heavy. A well-dressed girl was crushed flat on the pavement beneath a massive concrete pillar and every bone was broken. The failure is attributed to inferior material. The architect committed suicide. TWENTY-ONE DEAD (Received 11th October, 1.40 p.m.) PRAGUE, 10th October. Twenty-one dead and thirty-six injured have alreadv been recovered from the collapsed building. Twenty-six are still missing. Some were rescued by means of tunnels dug out from neighbouring cellars. Thirty soldiers were injured in rescue operations.
