EMPIRE THEATRE Gene Stratton Porter's greatest novel "The Keeper of the Bees" will be presented as a photoplay at the Empire tonight and to-morrow as the star attraction. This is a. splendid outdoor story, set amid the beauty of California's wonderful scenery. Clara Bow and Robert Frazer play the leading roles in this gripping and romantic tale. "The Danger Girl," the supporting attraction, is a highly thrilling mystery drama, with Priscilla, Dean in the title part. The plans are now open at Cull's and the theatre for .Saturday's programme, and for "Beau Geste" season. REfiENT—ZANE GREY "Man of the Forest," a Zane Grey thriller, full of fascinating features of the California. Sierras country, is the star item at the Regent. In it Jack Holt is co-featured with Georgia Hale and El Brendel. The supports comprise a Christy comedy, cartoon and news. Saturday's special attractions will include a film of Kingsford Smith's arrival in Blenheim and the wonderful welcome in Wellington. The plan is now open. It is announced that Mr Lee M. Hill, late of the Commonwealth Film Laboratories, Sydney, N.S.W. has arrived in Nelson to produce a comedy drama, of Nelson, to be called "Nellie of Nelson." The leading players will be Neson people who will lie chosen by the public, at the screen tests at the Regent next week. Mr Hill wishes it' to be known that this is a genuine attempt to find screen types. Picture production must come to New Zealand, and among Now Zealand's million and a quarter people, there surely must be some with true screen genius. The producer has with him the very best of cameras and studio equipment, including a big 10,000 candle power Kleig lamp. "Nellie of Nelson" will be personally reviewed by Mr Barrie Marschell, of the British Dominions films, and if any of the artists show talent, CTie film will be sent to England, where at Elstree is the largest studio in the world.
