TAKAKA

x FANpY DRESS BALL A most successful children's fancy dress ball was held in the Golden Bay Theatre last week when the Theatre was packed with onlookers and children to raise funds for the Takaka District High School to carrv out improvements at the High School. "The funds will benefit,to the extent of £32. The judge (Mrs Reeves) reported:—lt was very difficult to do justice to tho many beautiful costumes. The gem of the evening to my mind was little "Japonic.!." Other outstanding ones being:—"Folly" ; "Japanpse Lantern,"' "Black Cat" and "Chinese Lady", who by the way, should have had high neck to make the costume correct. "Sovereign Butter" was also very well canned and looked quite dainty. The "Wee Drummer" too, was splendid; but with so many really good,, it was hard to know when to stop. • ' r
