NURSE IN COURT
CHARGES OF THEFT (By Tolograpb.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, 2nd August, Ruth (ii'iico Mor.t, iiged 27, a liurso, who emtio from England last year, pleaded guilty to-day to tho theft of £3 and a, ring valued at £1 10s. Sho also appeared for seutonco on a, charge of theft of £lO, to which sho had pleaded guilty last Friday. Some of tho thefts were committed at tho Y.W.C.A. Hostel. Tho ring was stolen from a nurso at a private hospital. Tho police staled that
sho had committed thefts at Christchurch from various employers and was regarded as an impostor. Tho Magistrate, Mr Page, imposed a sentence of twelve months' reformative detention. Accused's plea was that sho came <o tho Dominion on the understanding that sho was to bo a nurserymaid, but she found that her mistress required a housemaid. She did not regard -herself as a qualified nurse, and there was little demand for a nurserymaid. Sho had been practically penniless during her slay in New Zealand.
