CHRISTCHURCH, This Day
Canterbury successfully • defended the Ranfurly Shield against South Canterbury. The latter with the wind, did poorly, scoring 0 to (i, and against it fell to pieces, losing by 29 to 9. For the winners tries were scored by Oliver, Chesley (2), Hart (2), Grunt and Fookes. Chesley, with, some excellent kicking, converted four.

The Canterbury Rugby team to play Wairarapa for the Ranfurly Shield on We/dnesdav is as follows:—Backs, Harms, Doreen, Oliver, Chesley, Grant, Hay, Page; wing forward, Fookes; forwards, Cottrell, Clark, Kirkland, Lawson, Jackson, Toby, Robinson, Tom Robinson, Montgomery. One of these forwards will stand down.
