CHRISTCHURCH, This Day

Canterbury successfully • defended the Ranfurly Shield against South Canterbury. The latter with the wind, did poorly, scoring 0 to (i, and against it fell to pieces, losing by 29 to 9. For the winners tries were scored by Oliver, Chesley (2), Hart (2), Grunt and Fookes. Chesley, with, some excellent kicking, converted four.

One of these forwards will stand down.
