CREW RESCUED BY TOFUA

AUCKLAND, 14th July. The scow Herald ran ashore on Flat Rock en route from Whangarei to Auck-

land at 3 a.vn, Tlie survivors scrambled over the jib-boom on to the rock. The Tofua, passing in the vicinity at 1.50 p.m. observed the castaways, launched a boat and took the survivors off, transferring to the Harbour Board launch off Rangitoto at 4.45 and ' then proceeded on her voyage to Suva.

WELLINGTON, 14th July

The Secretary of the Post Office has received the following navigation warning:—"The Tofua reports that the scow Herald was wrecked on Flat Rock at 3 a.m. on 14th. The crew were saved. The derelict, full of coal, is drifting towards Great Barrier Island and is a danger to navigation."
