AUCKLAND, 14th July. Whila engaged in a drainage tunnel in Edendale as a minor, William Everett of' Grey Lynn, aged 34, lost his life on Thursday night. He leaves a widow and four children. A "greasy back'" camo down on him in a drive that had progressed more than 40ft from the cutting, and two further falls during rescue operations sealed his down. His voice bravely encouraged the rcscuo party during the earlier stage of their work, and then there was silence. At 11 a.m. yesterday, about nine hours after, the- fall occurred, his body was disinterred.
