SPANISH PLOT
COMMUNISTS IMPLICATED
HUNDREDS OF ARRESTS

LONDON’, 12th July. . Reports from the Spanish brawler indicate a widespread plot and wholesale arrests. Reports via Bordeaux state that tho Spanish Government discovered a- conspiracy organised by Syndicalists and Communists against King Alfonso and General de Rivera, whose lives were to have been attempted at the opening of a tunnel under the Pyrenees at Canfranc on 17th July..
The press'has been.asked to minimise the importance of the plot. It is estimated that there, have been over 500 arrests, especially in the provinces of Catalonia and Galicia. It is admitted that Communists attempted to undermine the- loyally of the. Barcelona garrison. Arrests continue lo he made.
REPORTS DENIED Australian Press Association—United Service. LONDON, 12th July. The Spanish Ambassador announces that the Government denies reports of trouble in Spain.
