NINETY VOTES TO THE GOOD

The loan proposal to feorcaw: £3OOO. for improvements at thp'Srinds Reserve v.-as placed before the ratepayers yesterday, and was carried by a small majority of 90 votes out of 1118 valid votes cast. There were 604 votes ill favour of the proposal and 514 against. Informal votes numbered 15, the total votes recorded being 1133 out of a roll of 2929. From the number of ratepayers who recorded their votes it will be seen thatlittle interest- was taken in the proposal. The members of the Tahuna Sands Association were active during the day, and the interest taken by members in tho proposal no doubt turned the day in their favour.

Th» result, of the poll was declared by the returning officer shortly before 8 p.m. There were less than half-a-dozen people waiting to bear tho declaration. The details'of the voting are:—
