THE ACTRESS AND THE ARTIST
The French actress, Guimard, employed a voting artist to decorate her house. One day she found him looking very unhappy and asked what was the matter with him.
“There is nothing wrong with me, Madame," he answered, "but the competition for the TVnc do Rome’ opens to-morrow "
“Well," said the actress, “you must send in, too."
To her surprise, however, he told her that as big had lo earn his living in this way he had been unable, through lack of means to do so.
“What! You have no money!” exclaimed the kind-hearted woman. “Take this," and she handed him enough to pay his expenses till the competition was over. She was richly rewarded. for the young artist won, and became the famous painter, David, whose pictures are now in the Louvre, Paris.
