Messengers had to traverse 20 miles between the island and the radio station, either on foot or by dog team, over ice.

The Governii]enl icebreaker Montcalm left the Gulf of St. Lawrence today under forced si cam for Poinl Amour (Labrador) to bring the airmen to Canada on. Sunday or Monday.
