CF.N.EVA. 14th April. Tin- League's opium assessor.. L. Lyall. called attention to increasing consumption in the Mal.tv fefleraled and tmfederated States. In 1925-26 lie accused the governments of deliberately increasing the quantity of legal opium in order to decrease the quantity of smuggled. TT«added that this aet'ion was not in accord with the British Government nndcrtakimr. Sir Malcolm Delevingue (I'nlish representative on the Advisory Committee of the League of Nations with regard to the traflie in opium and dangerous druns) denied the charge and said tin- C.ovoniment of Malaya was doing its utmost to mince consumption. Sir Delevingue complained of the absence cl tipiucs relating to the production and disposal of crude morphine at Formosa. The Japanese representative promised u> supply statistics.
