EMPIRE THEATRE "THE BELOVED ROGUE" The pleasure of being transported for an evening back to that fascinating period in French history when Louis XI was king, is given to those who see "The Beloved Rogue" which will be shown at the Empire Theatre again .tonight. John T'arrymore plays the leading part of Francis Villon the. great French vagabond poet. The extremely amusing pranks that he and his tavern rogues play in Paris provide excellent humour which is in turn balanced by the splendid court scenes in. and around the royal palace. The crafty and superstitious Louis XI is excellently portrayed by Conrad Veidt, and Mcrceline Dayis a heroine for whom any man worth his salt would be prepared to do and dare all that Francis Villon went through. This picture, reminiscent of "Quentin Durward", Notre Dame de Paris" to name onlv two of the great historical romances that have been laid in France, should not be missed. The box plan is at Frederick Cull's musicstore.
To-morrow nieht, Fred Niblo's newest production "The Temptress" featuring Greta Garbo and Antonio Moreno will be screened.
THEATRE ROYAL The "Seven Sinners," which will be shown to-night at flic Theatre Royal is a comedy of thrills and mystery, but mostly of laughs. Marie Provost, the most. charming comedienne of the screen, heads the cast, as Molly Brian, the keen-wilted, light-fingered, lighthearted little safe breaker, and she has associated with her Clive Brook, the suave handsome English star, as a modern and merry Jimmy Valentine; John Patrick, as a new sort of Raffles: ITeinie Couklin, one of the funniest of all comedians, as a thug of a crook who scorns finesse; and Claude Giliingwater and Mathilde Brundage, as a pair of sanetirhohiou? confidence people
