MONEY FOR MINERS
A MYSTERIOUS DONOR STATEMENT BY UNION OFFICIAL (By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright) (Australian & N.Z. Cable Association) (Received 7t 11 February, 10.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. Addressing a meeting of miners of the Stockton Borehole colliery, and pressmen whom he invited to be present. Air Hoave, president of the Northern branch of the Coal Miners' Federation, stated that he received, during the past eighteen months, amounts totalling £597 as payment for keeping the mine working. Air Hoare said that the money was paid to him at the rate of a half-penny per ton on the output by a man whom lie met in the street in Newcastle. The man refused to divulge, his name. When Mr Hoare said he felt guilty in taking the money, the man said that he was getting a mere fleabite to what others were getting v Mr Hoare said he had not had to raise a hand to keep the colliery working and the money would be distributed among tho wives and families of members of the Stockton Borehole lodge.
