Inspector Lewin, of Auckland, who is shortly to take charge of the new Police district, embracing Nelson and Marlborough, arrived here yesterday morning. He was accompanied by Mrs Lewin and his two daughters. The. Hon. A. D. McLeod, Tvnnister of Lands, is due at Nelson to-morrow morning. In his capacity of Minister of Industries and Commerce he will open the annual conference of the New Zealand Master Grocers' Federation. The Minister will also receive various deputations concerning local matters.

The Hon. 0. J. Hawken, Minister of Agriculture, has notified Mr H. Atmore, M.P., that, this week he will visit Blenheim, afterwards proceeding via the East Coast to the West Coast. The Minister, who will be accompanied by Mrs and Miss Hawken, will then come on to Nelson, arriving .here on the 13th inst. A number of deputations in connection with the fruitgrowing industry will wait *?n the Minister while he is in the city.
