TOWN BOARD MEETING GENERAL BUSTNESS At t-lie meeting of the Taliunanui Town Board held in the Town Hall this week there were present: Messrs F. W. Greenslade (chairman), W. Carter, C. H. Chamberlain, J. L. 0. Day, F. Hobern, L. Ingham, and M. O'Sullivan. Accounts amounting to £43 3s 5d were passed for payment. CORRESPONDENCE Mr A. J. Bailey asked for the low depressions in front of his premises, Main road, to be filled in and levelled off, and also pointed out that a footpath is badly needed for the safety of pedestrians. The gas manager, Greymouth Borough Council, wrote regretting.that they cannot supply the tar, as their council requires all they produce for their asphaltin S : -• • • The Waimea Electric Supply Company forwarded a formal plan showing the position of the new transformer sub-sta-tion in Edward street. > ... • Mr- O’Sullivan reported that in * conjunction with. Mr Parkinson (Traffic Inspector) arid Constable Berthelsen, they had gone very carefully into the question of parking-cars, and they recommended to the Board that the bus stand should be from the electric light pole near the corner of Mr Radford’s property- to the Post Office. This would relieve all buses from crowding at the shelter shed. The leading bus on the stand could draw over to the shed should any passengers be waiting there. They also recommended a parking place for cars on the north side of Bisley Avenue, Rocks road. . The following resolutions were passed: That- the recommendation for the bus stand as reported"be approved; that the parking place for cars on. Rocks road be deferred to next Board meeting; that a few’ loads of Rocks road, soil be put along Mr Bailey’s property, Main road; that the action- of the Electric Light Committee with reference to the new’ transformer sub-station be endorsed; that Mr. Carter and Mr O’Sullivan be a committee to go into the question of artesian water supply on the lines laid down by Dr. Henderson ; that the owners be given fourteen days’ notice to clean out their ditch from Mr Radford’s property to Moana street to the satisfaction of the Engineer, and if the work is not commenced by .the end of that period, the Board’s men to enter and do the Work and the owners.be charged up with cost of same; that tenders be called for widening Beach road from Moana street to Golf road, also raising the footpath.
