RECORD MOTOR "TRAP"

UPWARDS OF 700 CAUGHT PERIOD OF GRACE TRICK Seven hundred Coventry motorists were recently involved in the biggest police trap on record. A fortnight’s grace is allowed at the beginning of the quarter for the renewal of licenses but the Coventry police discovered that motorists had been in the habit ol using their cars during the first fortnight of the winter quarter and then putting them away for the winter without taking but licenses. During the first fortnight of October the police took particulars of every motor car passing through Coventry. The number exceeded 12,000. Details were given to the licensing authorities and checked with the names of motorists who have since taken out licences for the winter quarter. It was found that over 700 had failed to do this, and they must either take out’the licenses or appear before the magistrates.
