COLLEGE DEFEAT OLD BOYS
College secured a meritorious win over Old Boys on Saturday by 133 runs, after being 36 behind on the first innings. Continuing their second innings the first wicket fell early, but A. Newman (who wap missed at 2) and Sutherland took the score to 107. Several wickets fell fairly quickly but Haarkeswort-h and Budclle added another valuable 68 for the seventh wicket and the innings was declared at nine wickets for <273 runs, at 5 p.m. The faster bowlers occasionally reared uncomfortably, .several balls clearing both batsman and wicket-keeper and the total, especially under tho circumstances, was a splendid effort. , With over 21, hours to go Old Boys scarcely at any time looked like saving the game and were all out. at 25 minutes to 7 for 103 runs. The first wicket fell at 20 but three were down for 29. Betts, Blineoe, and Gray made good stands, the hitter pair adding 41 for the sixth wicket. Although one or two chances were missed in the slips some good catches were taken, six of the eight wickets being caught. OKI Boys hatted two short, in both innings and fielded for a considerable fime with nine men. The three Newman brothers in this game were responsible for 273 runs and nineteen wickets. P. and T. heat Mental Hospital at Stoke on Saturday by 100 runs, gaining a 3 point win. Mental Hospital made 38 and 72 runs, the highest scorers being Exton 12, Winnie 16. Hurst, 15. Thomas 14.
