Stories of Red Terrorism in the lloifung district .no confirmed Jiy Bishop Valtortn, vicar apostolic, who states that lie lias been informed by many refugees reaching Hong Kong that in the small town of Cipseng over 600 were massacred, apart from other places. A ghastly procession, termed a "red triumph,’’ carried the victims’ heads from Cipseng to Iloifnng. Amongst the victims was a very old and distinguished Chinese scholar.

Before being slaughtered the victims were subjected to torture, the nose being cut off and the ears pierced.

Similar outrages were perpetrated in numerous localities, the particulars being revolting. Red spies everywhere are earning a dollar a day for their services, whilst the murderers of anti-Communists secure a reward of ten dollars for each victim.
