WELLINGTON, 28th Nov. _ The Town Hall -was filled for the civic reception to Mr and Mrs Amery, and the welcome was expressed by the Mayor, Mr Troup. The Hon. A. D. McLeod represented the Government. A memorial on migration was presented to Mr Amery from 44 organisations. The scheme 1 outlined was supplementary to Government activities and involving the employment of British capital in the settlement of land by companies, which would malic a selection of suitable migrants, the British Government to investigate the scheme, and ,on approval endorse it and afford the companies assistance under the Empire Settlement Act/

Mr Amery said that the question of migration and settlement was one ov nation building within the Empire! Pro , per organisation and co-operation was required to ensure that the right type of migrants came to strengthen the dominions, especially in primary production. He agreed that there was a field for private enterprise supplementary to what was done by the governments. WEATHER INTERFERES WITH PROGRAMME WELLINGTON, This Day. Mr Amery addressed the Rotary Club and the returned soldiers yesterday afternoon, but had to give up his visits to the Hutt and Petone owing to the weather. In the evening the Governor-General held a reception in his honour. STATE LUNCHEON TO-DAY WELLINGTON, This Day. V Mr Amery was the guest of the Government at a State luncheon in the Town Hall to-day. There was a large gathering, representative of the political and commercial world.
