At the Murchison County Council meeting last Friday the Chairman (Councillor Baigentj referred to the death of Mr H. J. Hodgson. It was much to be regretted that he had been obliged to leave the district when lie did. Had Mr Hodgson been in Murchison now, the district would lie in a heller position than it is at present. lie was a progressive man who did his utmost- for the district while he resided there. Councillor Monahan also spoke, remarking that if it had not been for his assistance, the electric lighting would not have been inaugurated. Again, if all the buildings in the township which Mr Hodgson had erected were removed, it would be a very small place, indeed.
