STEAMER BEACHED IN SINKING
CONDITION

The propeller of the Beltana holed the steamer TVwrington in a, collision on the Thames, the Torrington sinking alongside the wharf.
LONDON, 31 si August, 1 he Beltana and Torrington were proceeding together down Gravesend Reach when the former struck and cut in I.aiv.es a small motor boat which had brr-kon down. Its sole occupant jumped into the river and was rescued by a tug. The Beltana then swung and as a, result the Torrington was holed, and was beached in a sinking condition. The Beltana was able to proceed to Australia.
