Duke Maddox (Hastings), the holder, failoti to make the weiglil by two pounds, the title automatically going to Johnnie. Leekie (Dunedin), the challenger. The fight lasted only one round and a half. Maddox was knocked down three times in the second round, his seconds then intervening.
