CORRESI'ONDTSXCK ' The Local Government Loans Board notified its sanction of a loan of £92" (or the purpose of acquiring tho V.M.C'.A. buildings and properly. It was docided to take steps to bare tho poll for the above loan taken on .24Hi August. The dog tax rollceun wrote, regarding commission on taxes collected. The matter was left to the Town Clerk.

The Nelson Provincial Progress League forwarded a copy of its annual report and balance sheet.

INTER-VIEW WITH MR FURKERT

Last week tho Mayor went to Wellington to interview Mr Furkcrt. Engincer-in-Chief to the Public Works Department ro a Government, grant for putting a lasting surface on Queen street. Tho Mayor reported that he had put all information possible before Mr Furkert, and was helped considerably in bis representations by Mr H. Atmore, M.P.. and the Hon. W. fcJnocTgrass, M.L.C. The matter was placed before tho Main Highways Board on Thursday.

GENERAL BUSINESS

Reports were received from the Reserves and Works Committees.

Purchase of a- typewriter was deferred

The Wainiea Electric Company notified that an amount would be allowed for the time a part, of the street lamps were not in working order. The Mayor reported that he had made representations to tho Secretary erf tho Posi and Telegraph Department and a new town clock is to be forwarded to the local Post Office as a. result. After other matters of business were discussed the Council adjourned at 3.20 o'clock.
