The hawthorn was a continual source, ol infection and it was all a. question oi what was the best thing to do. They should not allow infection it it could lie avoided. Hawthorn hedges ;im\ orchards could not go together. Eventually farmers would have to get rid of all such hedges. The onlv method of controlling iireblighl was to control the host- plant. They had got rid of if entirely in Auckland when, they had got rid of the hedges.
