Thistle kept, on pressing and took three corner kicks in as many minutes, but all were fruitless. Eventually Taylor put in a gocxl shot which Mnncaster saved in good style. From a free kick A. Smith scored Thistle's first goal. The hall struck the post but turned into goal. Athletic now pressed hotly and Johnson, in attempting to clear, turned th'ball past. Potts into his own goal.— Thistle 1, Athletic 1.

Athletic kept up tho attack and Jorgeiiscn shot wide when well placed. Mnncaster now made (,wq fine saves from Taylor and Willis. Half-time came with the score Thistle 1, Athletic 1. Upon resuming, Athletic came away nicely arid W. Smith found the net for Athletic.--Athletic 2, Thistle 1.

Thistle now took up the running and Mnncaster was kept busy saving from A. Smith arid Taylor. 'The •brill had become very slippery and heavy, and good kicking was out of the question. With ten minutes to go things looked hopeless for Thistle, but they played Oil in a determined manner, and Willis rushed the ball through for a third goal, and A. Smith bustled the ball through twice in quick succession, leaving Thistle the victors in a very trying gnme bv 5 goals 4.

Mr Claugliton ably controlled the game.
