FILM COMBINE DENIED

Telegraph—Copyright) (Australian & N,Z, Gable Association) MELBOURNE. 1QI1; June, diving evidence before the Film Commission, Mr Gibson, managing director of Union Theatres, denied that there was any film combine so far as they were concerned. They had never blocked an Australian picture. ]f they considered an Australian or British film was one that the people wanted Ihoy bought it. They had made two Australian, pictures which had never been and never would be shown, because they were not up to standard. To do any* good, for British industry it. would be necessary to show from thirty to lifty per cent. British films, and they were not available. They received" no commission directly or indirectly from American firms.
