(Received 29th Dec, 10.50 a.m.) PERTH, This Day Derby Day was marred by a serious accident in the Karrakatta Plate. Rounding the turn, one horse feli, bringing down four ethers. Alfred Todd, an apprentice riding Merry Beggar, was so seriously injured that he died in the hospital. Jockey Cerry was also taken to the hospital seriously injured. Two horses were badly hurt and had to be destroyed.

At the English thoroughbred sales, Mr J. dime (New Zealand) purchased the mare Jewel of Asia for 575 guineas.
