BOAT CAPSIZES

DUNEDIN, This Day,

A youth named Roy Simpson was drowned at Grassy Point, Broad Bay. Simpson was sailing a 12-fooler in company with another lad, Victor Hodge. •Hedge went forward In attend the spinnaker, leaving his companion in the stern. The next thing he knew was the boat capsized. Both struck out for shore together, and Simpson began to fall back. Hodge believed him safe, however, and struggled to-safety in a state of exhaustion. Meantime Simpson disappeared, and. the body has not been recovered. It is not known where Simpson lived. He was employed by Charles Sundstrum, dentist.

ATTEMPT TO SWIM LAGOON

GREYMOUTH, This Day

David Hyndiiian, 26, single, a watersider, was drowned in Cobden Lagoon, across which lie was attempting lo swim, wearing trousers. When nearly across he disappeared. Other swimmers dived without being able to reach him. Later boats were used and the body recovered Hyndmnn was known as a good swimmer, and the accident is difficult to explain.
