The men claimed £5 weekly or 25/,- a day for musterers; £4 2s 6d or £1 for pack* , ers; £1 10s per day. and expenses for drovers. This was a considerable increase over the old award,
The employers counter-claimed for lower rates. The parties failed to reach ar. agreement except on one or two"formal matters with reference to the conditions and sfeope of the award. The dispute was therefore referred' to the Arbitration Court.'"'
