The regatta was held in the face of-a stiong head wind. In the four-oared race, first heat,. Olago beat Melbourne University. There were only two starters. Otago led all the way, pulling up with 50 yards to spare. Time 6.1 g. In the final Otago beat Hawthorn (Victoria). There were again only two starters and Otago once more led all the way, winning easily by 'four lengths. In tlic twoi-oared rdce, in the final Otago repeated the previous performances, leading from start to finish, and winning easily by five lengths from Hawthorn (Victoria). The visiting New Zealand crews outclassed the opposition on eacli occasion and scored popular victories.
