Cross, Lusty, Webby, ivluntz, and Price. Accounts amounting tu Ij 119 2s 2d were passed for payment. The -Mayor (Mr (i. Kidcl) asked for further leave of absence on account of illness. A month's leave of absence was granted.

CORRESPONDENCE

The Waimea County Council, in reference to heavy traffic fees, informed Uie Borough that Appleby road was not included in the mileage of Richmond Borough.—The Waimea County Council is to be requested to forward any fees thai may ho due lev this Council.

Messrs Cilasgow, Rout, and Moynagii wrote in reference to sub-division of property on Salisbury road. The Public Works Department asked if the Council will pay half cost of 6ft galvanised corrugated iron fence, to be erected on the east side of the I'osl Odice section, and adjoining the Council's properly.—Council to erect their half of the fence us set out by the Department. The report stated that a gale valve had been lit led in Upper Queen street. The concrete trough in Hill street has been connected with the water service, and y ball cock attached. The ditch from the intersection of Queen street and Gladstone road has been cleaned out. Among the refuse were parts of leg bones of sheep, evidently thrown in the ditch to dispose of. Steps must be taken to obviate this, as it will very sobll create a nuisance. This waterway should be cleaned out down to the sea. The adjustment of the fence at the Recreation ((round has nut been made. A clean up of the borough is due shortly. The license to graze on the Recreation Ground expires on November Ist

The clean up of the borough was deferred for a. further meeting. Tenders are to be called for tile right to graze sheep on the Recreation Ground The cleaning out of the reservoir was left in the hands of the Water Committee with power to act. The secretary of the Richmond Cricket Club asked for the use of the Recreation Ground—Granted on Ihe usual terms.

The Deputy-Mayor and Cr. Price are to represent this Council at. the conference re formation of power board for this district.

The Town Clerk. Nelson, forwarded report, of procedure for the- information of those delegates appointed to represent the different local bodies at the conference. The Town Clerk was thanked for the report.

Mr F. L Ledger forwarded plans of subdivision of Messrs Croueher and Sons' and Sutton Bros.' properties 1 for approval by this Council.—Approved. A resident, of Champion road applied foi- a crossing. -—Grunted.

'I he Telegraph Engineer forwarded sketch nf tin; proposed position of the underground telephone, cable to be laid in the borough.

Mr Watt inquired if portion of Queen street had been exempted from section 117 of the. Public Works Act.—The Public Works Department is to 'be written to on the subject. The Management Committee of the Municipal r'ire Brigade recommended that the Council make an annual grant to the Brigade, for winch they forward u. balance siieet to the Council at the end of each year.

Cr. Pricn reported on the conference convened by the Health Department, for the purpose of consolidating the inspection under the Health Act, the outcome of which was that the' local bodies would amalgamate and have one inspector for the district. Cr. Lusty reported that four 6-inch cast-iron pipes had hern put across the road at Appleby corner ; and pot-holes filled in on McShane's road. The culvert on Westley street has had a. concrete top put in. Salisbury and Gladstone roads require attending to. The. tractor grader and dump truck are to hand and will be in Working order shortly.

Cr. Webby reported having inspected the dump truck and having several small improvements made on it. before leaving the workshop, which were approved of by (he Council. Cr. Muntz reported on the reserves as being in a, satisfactory slate. The carting contractors arc to he noI ilied not to cart- any more stones The arranging of the bus stand was left, in the hands of the Deputy-Mayor and Traffic Inspector to deal with. The Waimea Electric Light, Coy. is to be written to asking why (he 'light at flic corner of Williams and George streets has not been installed and the light in Queen street moved to the corner of Georg*; street.
