Seconded by Cr. Hoyes and carried. Wainicu County Council, agreeing to Council’s request 'to erect two electric pules, along the. side of thn County road, to enable light to be installed in Mr Woodman's residence.- -Keccivert. The Croquet, Club is to be informed tho Council has no objection to I heir placing a, notice board at Lite court, notifying that croquet, only is to bo played’ on” the lawn. Sanitary Inspector (Mr York), submitted report for month of September. —Diphtheria, two eases; disinfections, three homes disinfecleil and oilo (lassroom at school; complaints attended to, two; nuisances attended 10, oue; abated, one; plumbing and drainage work inspected, three; other sanitary inspections made, 12: work under the “Sale ul hood and Drugs Act, sain pies taken, 26 loaves ul bread tested for weight, also 20 lbs butler—weights sat isfuctury; food premises inspected, two* bakehouses, two grocers', four learooms. Special investigations have been made in and around ihc school, water tanks examined and loutul very clean. The school medical officer has taken swabs for bacteriological examination for diphtheria carriers, from the whole of those attending Motucka, School. Atkins slated that Fcaron street was in a fearful condition from end to end with blackberries and other growths. He thought That if the respective residents cleaned up their frontages and ditches the nuisance would be alleviated.

Cr. Staples remarked that tree growth was right up to the formation of the roadway and, that if residents in other streets had t'o keep their frontages free from blackberries and other rubbish, (he.residents in this locality should also bo compelled to do so. It was decided that the clerk give property owners concerned two months’ notice to clean up noxious weeds on their frontages. The foreman (Mr R. Alexander) presented his report, which was read and received, on the motion of the Mayor and Cr. .Smith. ELECTRICAL MATTERS The Electrical Engineer (Mr J. Heath) reported for I he. month of Sep-

tembor as follows:—“The spares which were ordered for the. gas engine have arrived, together with a supply of lamps for street, lighting purposes. A further instalment of material for the reticulation in College ■street, arrived recently, and this section will b r - connecter very shortly. On the 30lh insL. Hie plant was shut down at 7.39 p.m., owing lo a broken spring in the 40 k.w. sets. The current was switched on again at 8.13 p.m. — Report received. Mr Heath also reported that at a certain house a meter seal had been broken. The seriousness of the offence was stressed by the engineer, who said Unit tampering with seals and fuses was liable lo cause disorganisation of the electric system, on that section, lie urged that, the Council lake action in such cases. It was decided, on the motion of the Mayor and Cr. Roves, that, any person interfering with seals and fuses in connection with the electric light servile Im prosecuted. ANNEEBIiOOK OVERHEAD RRIDGE

Cr. Smith asked if any grant had been made towards the cost of (ho Aniiesbrook overhead bridge, as he had noticed, in the Press, a statement to the effect that Motucka had offered £2O.

The Mayor disclaimed any knowledge of such a grant being offered or even discussed bv members of the Council.
