CAPETOWN, Oct. 8.

The r&cenl awards of the Wages Boards, in tDo clothing, confectionery, sweets, and biscuit industries are raising wages all round, in some, eases more than 100 per cent. This has caused much perturbation among manufaetur ers, especially as it is accompanied by more stringent, regulations and conditions of employment. The secretary of the Federated Chamber of Industries slates that if the principles laid down are carried out it. will sound the death-knell of industrial development.
