Civil Service, the weather was overcast, with an intermittent drizzle. The wicket was wet. Play started late and further rain delayed the start of the Civil Service innings until 2.30. The attendance was 1000. A feature of tlie innings was the bowling of Collins, whe captured six wickets for seventeen. Bennett, tin* only batsman to make anything of a stand brought off some nice drives. The batsmen generally were impotent, and did not attempt "to hit, and their attempts to step tlie ball were painful to watch. Their second strike was a bit more lively, Cook and Musson driving and cutting cleanly and powerfully. The second wicket yielded 56. Welib and Collins played out- time.
