AN ENTHUSIASTIC GATHERING (United Press Association). DARGAVILLE, This Day. The Prime Minister arrived at 5 o'clock and immediately set to work receiving deputations. Thp theatre was packed, many coming 50 miles. The. Mayor. Mr Jones, presided. Mr Covates was given a rousing reception on rising to respond. He explained the matters to come before the Imperial Conference and dealt at some length on preference l to British goods. He thought there wore a number which could be brought before Home manufacturers with at*, wantage U: defended the 'immigration policy, pointing out that we had promised to take 10,000 per year and were 4000 behind. He was in favour of shortening shinning voyages, and concluded by making a strong appeal on behalf of primary producers The meeting finished about 10.30 amid scenes of great enthusiasm.
