ROYAL VISIT

INVITATION TO DUKE AND DUCHESS OF YORK TO INCLUDE NEW ZEALAND IN TOUR ACCEPTANCE ANNOUNCED (United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. In connection with the proposed visit of the Duke and Duchess of York to New Zealand the Governor-General on 20th July sent, on behalf of the Government, the following telegram to the Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs: —“In view of the announcement of the projected visit of Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of - York to Australia next year, I am requested by my Government to ask you to convey to Their Royal Highnesses the respectful and earnest hope that the visit may be extended to New Zealand where Their Royal Highnesses may be assured of the warmest welcome. Such a visit would give intense pleasure to His Majesty’s subjects in the Dominion, who would welcome the opportunity of showing their loyalty and attachment to His Majesty in the persons of Their Roval Highnesses. It is hoped that Their Royal Highnesses will consent to be the guests of the New Zealand Government during the visit.”—Signed, Governor-General. His Excellency received the following reply: “Your, telegram of 20th July lias been laid before the King, who is graciously pleased to consent to Their 'Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of York accepting the invitation of your Government to extend to New Zealand their proposed visit to Australia next year. Their Majesties retain the happiest memories of the warmth and affection with which they were received on their visit to New Zealand 25 years ago and-they are delighted to think' their son and daughter-in-law will be following in their footsteps. It affords Their Royal Highnesses very great pleasure to accept the invitation of your: Government to visit New Zealand as ,their .guests and they look forward to the visit with the keenest anticipation.”—Signed, Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs; The Governor-General sent the following reply: “The Government desire mo to express their great satisfaction that .
