SUPREME COURT

NELSON SESSION The Supreme Court continued yesterday afternoon before Mr Justice Ostler. CIVIL BUSINESS In the civil case set down for hearing, Rulph Stewart v. John McDougall, ciaim for compensation for alleged brcafch of agreement over the lease of a hotel at Takaka, Mr Thorp for plaintiff, stated that the action was not being defended, and he therefore proposed to confine his case to the question of damages, whereof £750 was claimed. Counsel went on to detail the items by which the claim was made up. ' His Honour remarked that the bill seemed to be a very stiff one, and he would want evidence in support. Plaintiff thereupon ■ went into the box and gave evidence in support of his iclaim. Decision was reserved. The Court then adjourned until to.mortTAv (Friday), when several undefended divorce cases and a compensation claim will be taken.
