The last three weekly meetings of the Loyal Nelson Lodge, were chiefly lodge business election of officers and instalment of same by lodge deputy Bro. Heaven; Sister Mrs Moves was re-elect-ed C.T. Last Saturday, after two new members were initiated, the- lodge broke into song and melody, and chiefly owing to the kind entertainment of visitors a pleasant evening was passed, llro. Watson opened the ball by singing “The Union Jack of old England,” with great sueess. With an apologetic- bow to the ladies, anil without wishing to make an invidious distinction from a galaxy of pleasant reminiscences, our correspondent thinks the gem of the evening (although not encored) was Mr Dickinson’s rendering of Bruno Hukli’s “Invictus.” Mr Dickinson possesses a “mezzo” tenor of fine timbre and resonance, over which lie has ;■ cultured control, ami bis interpretation of this fine song was well done. “I must not forget two pleasing items by a young lady whose name [ did riot quite- catch. - Ail the items were met with enthusiastic appla-use, especially Mrs Dickinson’s, song “.My Bear” for which she had to submit to an encore which would not he- denied. At the conclusion of the sing song, refreliment were- handed round and on the motion of Sister Mrs Watson, P.C.T., a hearty vote of thanks, carried by acclamation, was accorded the visitors who so kindly came, forward to entertain tho lodge. Mrs Gubb and Miss Keys were the. accompanistes. So ended a jolly evening all singing “Auld’ Laiig Syne.” Appended are the items: Bro. Watson sang ‘The Union Jack of Old England.” Bro.
